Canmore Update
The inaugural Sedona Sister Cities–Canmore Sister Cities Golf Exchange teed off this fall in Canmore, bringing together golfers from two spectacular mountain communities for the “Red Rocks vs. Rocky Mountains Tournament.” The exchange trip was from September 12th to September 16th with the matches played on the 16th and 17th.
A team of 12 golfers from Sedona — many of whom regularly play at Seven Canyons Golf Club — along with several spouses, traveled to Canada for the friendly international exchange and two-day tournament at the scenic Stewart Creek Golf & Country Club.
A Successful Event

The Sedona and Canmore golf contingencies. The 12 Canmore golfers won the most points on the first day of play but the Sedona group won more points on the second round giving the overall win to Sedona. The Canmore golfers are all looking forward to visiting Sedona in April!

Other Activities at the Golf Exchange
Kananaskas Golf Greens
Most of the group played Banff Springs Golf Course and several had to leave a ball behind to avoid this elk who took over a sand trap.

On the first day in Canmore, Sister City friends Heather Walter and Anne Walton led most of the Sedona group on a hike to Grassi Lake while Sue and Mike Williams were treated to a tour of the local area led by Martin Buckley.
On the first evening that the Sedona group was in Canmore, many Canmore Sister Cities friends joined for dinner at Murrietta’s Restaurant. The night before the tournament, the Stewart Creek Golf Club hosted a welcome reception with many Canmore Sister Cities friends in attendance. Jennette shared greetings from the Sedona Sister Cities board and also how thrilled they were to have this new connection with Canmore. Canmore Sister Cities president, Rob Seeley, and the Canmore mayor, Sean Krausert, echoed the sentiment and heartily welcomed the group.
These non-golfers rode the gondola to the top of the Canadian Rockies at Sunshine Village near Banff
Extra activity: Most of the group hiked to the Agnes Lake Tea House from Lake Louise. It was a rainy day with a touch of snow at the tea house!
A 30 mile bike ride on the closed-to-autos Bow Valley Parkway from Banff to Johnson Lake and back was planned for the entire Sedona group on the first full day in Canmore. Because of rain and cold, the group did the hike to Grassi Lake instead.
However, a few from Sedona stayed an extra day at the end of the trip and did the ride…phenomenal! Next time!!!
