Sedona, AZ – August 5, 2024 – The Sedona Sister Cities Association is thrilled to announce that it has been selected to host the 2024 Arizona Sister Cities State Conference, themed “Finding Common Ground: At the Heart of Creating, Revitalizing, and Growing Sister Cities.”

Following the Tuesday, May 7 meeting of the Canmore Town Council in Alberta, Canada, at which the council unanimously approved entering into a two-year friendship agreement with Sedona to discuss potential exchanges and shared projects, the Sedona City Council approved the agreement during its meeting April 23.

It’s Official - Sedona/Canmore Are Friendship Cities Sedona, Arizona, May 8, 2024 – In a historic move, Sedona's City Council and Canmore, Canada's Town Council have unanimously approved an official "Friendship Cities" designation between the two picturesque locales.

Thirty volunteers (Sister City Sleuths) met at Sedona’s City Hall on June 7 to kick off the process to select Sedona’s first Sister City. Five teams were asked to analyze and recommend cities

The Search is On

Interest in becoming Sedona’s Sister City is intense. “Although  Sedona’s Sister City Association is only three months old, we are  already reviewing six potential Sister City partners” noted Chuck Marr,  Chair. To date interest in “twinning” with Sedona has been received  from cities in Ireland, Columbia, Mexico and South Korea. 

Sister City Group Selects Board/Begins Search In early February, the Sedona City Council and the Big Park Regional  Coordinating Council gave Sedona’s volunteer Sister Cities Association  (the SSCA) the green light to go ahead with arranging such a  relationship between our community and a counterpart abroad.
